St Georges Day Parade 2015

Today the Weald District came together to celebrate our patron saint's day and join together in renewing our Scout Promise.  This years ceremony was held at Hawkhurst church and each group performed a five minute presentation on the theme of anniversaries.

Some of the topics covered were the Battle of Waterloo (200 years); the publication of Alice in Wonderland (150 years); the introduction of the compulsory driving test (80 years); the death of Winston Churchill (50 years); the release of Nelson Mandela (25 years); and the opening of the Channel Tunnel (also 25 years).

After the service we paraded out on to the common and formed up for the annual awards ceremony.  We would like to extend a big congratulations to Nita Chandler for achieving her Silver Acorn and to Ann Carroll for her Bar to the Medal of Merit.
