About us
The name "Weald" comes from an old English word meaning "forest" and is applied to a large area covering Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Kent however, our Scout District covers only a small part of the Kent High Weald between Royal Tunbridge Wells and Ashford.
The Kent High Weald is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and we would certainly agree with that as we actively engage with the natural world around us.
Scouting in the area goes back right to the beginnings of the movement but over the years the boundaries of our district have occasionally shifted.
Currently we support 8 Groups made up of 6 Beaver colonies, 8 Cub packs, 8 Scout troops and 3 Explorer units. We also have a Scout Network of 18-25 year old's and a Scout Active Support unit.
We have over 400 young members plus a highly dedicated team of adult volunteers but we are always keen to grow and share the adventure.
Scouting is available to all!
No matter what gender, faith, nationality, ethnicity, sexual orientation or special needs, Weald District Scouts can help you or your child to fulfill your/their potential through Adventure!
